Welcome to your what to wear guide:

Choosing what to wear for your photoshoot can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Your outfit plays a big role in how your photos will look and feel, and I’m here to help make the process as simple and stress-free as possible. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know – from colors to little styling details – so that your final photos truly reflect your personality, your connection, and the unique story we are capturing together.

1.Coordinate, Don’t Match

One of the most common mistakes people make is thinking everyone has to wear the exact same color. Instead, I always encourage my couples to coordinate their outfits. This means choosing a color palette of 2–4 shades that work beautifully together. For example, if one person wears a beige dress, the other can complement it with a white shirt and light brown pants.

Coordinating gives your photos a polished and cohesive look, while still allowing each person to express their own style. Think of it as creating a “visual harmony” rather than a uniform.

2.Soft, Neutral & Earthy Tones Work Best

When it comes to colors, softer tones always photograph better than very bold or neon shades. Neutral and earthy colors have a timeless quality that helps the focus stay on you and your emotions rather than your clothes.

Here are some palettes I always recommend:

Neutrals: White,, beige, taupe, grey

Pastels: blush pink, baby blue, lavender, sage green, peach

Earthy tones: olive green, rust, terracotta, brown

These shades not only flatter all skin tones but also blend beautifully with natural outdoor settings like fields

3.Comfort is Key

You should feel 100% comfortable and confident in your outfit. If something feels too tight or itchy it will show in the photos because you won’t be relaxed. The best images happen when you feel like yourself confident and authentic

4.Dress for the Location & Season

The location of your session plays a big part in choosing an outfit that feels natural and looks amazing on camera.Dressing in harmony with your surroundings helps create beautiful photos that truly stands out.. Here are a few ideas to help guide your outfit choices:

Beach sessions:

Light breathable fabrics like cotton or linen work beautifully.Think flowy dresses, rolled-up pants, and soft pastel tones that compliment the ocean backdrop.

Fields:

Cozy textures and earthy colours that blend naturally with the surroundings.Think browns, greens, cream or rust tones

5.Add Texture & Layers

One of the easiest ways to add depth to your photos is by playing with texture. Clothing made of lace, linen, knits or denim adds a beautiful visual interest. Similarly layers like jackets, scarves or even a hat can give your photos variety without needing an outfit change.

Textures and layers also bring movement to your images. For example a flowing dress.

6.Avoid Logos,Graphics &Distracting patterns

While patterns can sometimes work, busy prints, stripes, or bold logos can take attention away from your faces and your connection. Large letters or brand names can also make photos look dated quickly. If you do choose a pattern, keep it subtle and simple, like small florals or soft checks.

7.Dont over accessorise

Keep your accessories simple and minimal. Too many bold pieces can draw attention away from you and the overall look of your photos .A pair of earings, a delicate necklace or watches is all you need.

8.Avoid wearing all black and all white

While black and white are classic choices wearing only those shades can make it harder to capture depth and texture in your photos. All black can sometimes appear flat and all white can wash out your skin tone
